Halloween Costumes
We do not want to diminish the spirit of Halloween, particularly in a town that hosts “Pumpkin Festival”, but please be reminded we are an education institution and in session on Wednesday, October 31, 2018. Students will not be allowed to wear masks (face coverings) or any large head gear. Please do not wear anything that would distract others from learning or would violate the dress code or school policies. We want students and staff to enjoy the day but stay safe within the parameter of good taste.

Attention Seniors
If your colleges require a letter of recommendation for admission, please make sure that you have spoken directly with your teacher(s) to request this letter. Once you have personally asked for the letter, please indicate this request in Naviance as well so that the counseling office can see which teachers have been asked. Please let your teacher know if you are applying through Common App so they can also complete the required teacher evaluation form. Check in with the school counseling office before your deadline to be sure that your letters of rec have been uploaded and sent. Not all schools require these recommendations, so be sure to check with your college or university.

Attention Seniors – College Application Deadline
If you are applying for colleges that have an upcoming deadline, please make sure that you have requested any official school documents (transcripts, school reports, letters of recommendation, etc) in Naviance. Give plenty of time to have the request for materials processed and sent to colleges by the counseling office before the deadline. Check in with your school counselor with any questions or if you need help.

Argentina Rotary Short Term Exchange Program – See the experience
The Sycamore Rotary Club is looking for students and families interested in taking part in a short-term Rotary Exchange with our sister Rotary Club in Argentina. Last year two of our students participated in the exchange program. To hear about her experience please click here.

With the Rotary Exchange program your family would host a student during the 2018-19 school year, from mid-January to the end of February (approximately 6 weeks). The student would live with you and attend Sycamore High School. In June-July of 2019 (approximately 6 weeks) your child would go to Argentina to live with the family of the child you hosted and attend their local high school.

The short-term Rotary Exchange program has been an excellent experience for all parties over the past years. If you or your student would like to learn more about this amazing opportunity please contact Tim Carlson.
