*Sycamore High School students will be dismissed on Wednesday, October 2nd at 2:00 p.m.  All buses will run on the regular schedule.

Guy’s Poms 2019:
Come join the guy’s pom squad that will perform during halftime at the 2019 Powder Puff Game!! 

ALL grades welcome! 

Practice dates/times: 9/30: 5:30-7:30pm and 10/2 immediately following the homecoming parade, both in the dance room

Cost is $10 and includes a T-shirt!!

Deadline to sign up in the office is Wednesday, 9/25 by the end of the school day; $10 is due when you sign up! 

Junior Class NIU Trip
On Thursday, October 10, we will be taking our juniors to NIU for a visit.  It is a late start day. We will be meeting in the Auditorium at 8:50 and returning around 2:30-2:45.  They will be dismissed upon return. Lunch will be provided. They will be touring the campus, visiting a dorm, meeting with NIU students, and will be able to pick a class to attend.

Even if NIU or college is not in their future, it is a great opportunity to compare and gain insight on making the most informed decision for after their senior year.

National College Fair – Juniors and Seniors ONLY
On Tuesday, October 1st, Juniors and Seniors that interested in attending the National College Fair at Elgin Community College from 9:30-12:00, please see Mrs. Robles, Room T156, for a permission slip.  Bus and lunch will be provided.

AP Testing Registration
If you have a student who is currently enrolled in an AP class, the time is here to start thinking about making a decision about whether they will be taking an Advanced Placement (AP) exam in May. Mrs. Kirchmann has already visited every AP class and has given your student information about registering for AP exams. 

Tuesday, October 1st the window will open to begin registering. Registration will go through Monday, October 21st at midnight.  Students will also have a registration form that must also be completed and turned in to Mrs. Kirchmann in order to finalize registration for AP testing. This form is also available on the webstore when you pay. 

AP Testing Payment can be made at the Sycamore School District Webstore under “High School” and “AP Testing”.  The cost of AP testing is $94.00 per exam (or $53.00 per exam if you are on free or reduced lunch).  

This is an earlier registration deadline, please call Mrs. Kirchmann with any questions.  

Senior Pictures and Yearbook Picture Retakes
Prestige Portraits has put together a few dates that they will be setting up for any Senior who  would still like an upgrade or retake session in our Rockford office. 

September 26th 5:00p-7:00p
September 28th 9:00a-1:00p
October 1st 5:00p-1:00p
October 5th 9:00a-1:00p

This is if you would like retakes or a larger session. These dates will be the last opportunity for Grad year 2020 to get a full session with Prestige. 

Photo Retake Day
All students who missed yearbook pictures or would like a retake please got to the Auditorium on Thursday, October 3. Please have your students stop down during their lunch or study hall. If you have any questions contact Ms. Bierman at 815-899-8151.

Parent Tip of the Week
If you received an email about your son/daughter missing Spartan Stretch, more than likely they had an intervention with a teacher that they missed.  Each morning before 8:00 am, students should check their school email for announcements about where to go during Spartan Stretch.

Sycamore High School Tutoring
Tutoring is available to SHS students on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, from 3:30-4:30p.  Sunday Night Tutoring from 7:00-9:00p in the Library.

College Visits
The following colleges will be visiting at Sycamore High School.  Please sign-up through Naviance. All visits are held in R109.   

September 23 – University of Wisconsin – Whitewater – 1:30 p.m.

September 24 – St. Ambrose – 9:00 a.m.

October 3 – Augustana College – 10:30 a.m. 

October 4 – University of Alabama – 9:00 a.m.              

Military Opt Out
State and federal law require school districts to release names, addresses and telephone numbers of high school students to military recruiters unless parents or students have advised the District that they do not want the District to disclose such information without their prior written consent.

If you do not want the District to release demographic information to military recruiters or other individuals, you must notify Mr. Tim Carlson at Sycamore High School via email, tcarlson@syc427.org, and should specify the student’s name and ID number, and list the types of information that should not be released.The deadline is Friday, October 18th to opt out.
