College Prep Night
There will be a College Prep Night offered for Parents and Students (Juniors and Seniors) on Monday, September 9th from 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Sycamore High School (meet in the Auditorium). We will give an overview of the Naviance program that students use for career interest inventories, college searches, transcript requests, resumes, and more. Juniors will hear a presentation about applying to college/finding a right fit school while seniors receive information about paying for college and applying for the FAFSA.
Military Service Academies:
If a student is planning to attend one of the Military Service Academies after high school (see below), Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14) is accepting applications for congressional nominations:
- U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY
- U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO
- U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD
- U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY

Additionally, there are two Service Academy Informational Fairs to provide more information about this process and to allow families to speak directly with representatives of each of the academies.

SENIORS – Early Graduation
Any senior who is planning to graduate early, should touch base with their school counselor immediately. Paperwork to apply for early graduation must be handed in by September 3 – the day after Labor Day.
Yearbooks can now be picked up in the Athletic Office during school hours. If you did not purchase a yearbook but would like to, there are a few extras and the cost is $60 and they are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Sycamore High School Tutoring
Tutoring is available to SHS students on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, from 3:30-4:30p. Sunday Night Tutoring will begin September 8 from 7:00-9:00p in the Library.
The following colleges will be visiting at Sycamore High School. Please sign-up through Naviance.

Fri., Sept. 6 – University of Louisville – 3rd hour

SRO Tip of the week
While riding your bicycle, please make sure you obey all rules of the road. Obey traffic signals and signs, use your arms to signal which direction you are turning, and watch for other cars. Remember that just because you see them, does not mean they see you. Protect yourself from inattentive drivers by being cautious while biking to and from school.
