5Essential Survey – HELP!
We are asking parents to help us reach our goal of 20% participation in the 5Essential Survey.  We are currently at 10%.

At least every other year, districts throughout Illinois are asked to participate in the 5Essential survey to gather information from our faculty, students and parents to gain insight in the key components of all successful schools. These areas include effective leaders, collaborative teachers, involved families, supportive environments, and ambitious instruction.

The results of the survey responses are reported back to the schools for their review and planning for future school improvement focus items within the five areas.

We need your assistance and your feedback.  As a district, we have chosen to provide the opportunity for you, the parents/guardians of our students, to offer us feedback via the 5Essentials parent survey.  The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and can be completed on your smart device.

Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand the conditions here at the school and guide improvement. Your identity and individual survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

To take the survey, click here.

For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, please visit https://illinois.5-essentials.org.

Thank you, in advance, for your time and participation.

Dual Credit/KEC Placement Testing
If your student signed up for a Dual Credit course at SHS or one of the following KEC classes (CNA, EMT, Medical Terminology, or Sports Medicine) for the 2019-2020 school year, they must be sure to complete any required placement testing before April 8th to qualify for the class.  Students must sign up as Kishwaukee College student before they can complete placement testing (click “apply” on the Kish website at www.kish.edu).  Students should see their school counselor to see if they must test or if they qualify for an exemption based on GPA or ACT/SAT test scores.  Sign ups are available in the counseling office if students want to ride a bus to Kish in March 18th or 21st to complete testing. As long as testing is completed by April 8th, students may prefer to set up testing at Kish on their own.  Students taking one of the classes listed above should attend the Dual Credit Meeting during Spartan Stretch on Wednesday, February 27th.
