If you would like to see the outline of the presentation, you can visit the fall presentations on the school counseling portion of the SHS website.  The College Prep Night presentation can also be found on this same website under parent presentations.  https://shs.syc427.org/counseling-office/

ASVAB at SHS:
Sycamore High School is offering the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) Career Exploration Exam on Monday, November 4 at 8:15am. This test is optional and free to any interested juniors and seniors. Students must sign up ahead of time in the school counseling office if they want to take the test.  This exam can be used to not only determine military career choices but also civilian career options. The results of the ASVAB will be valid for military enlistment for 2 years but taking this exam does not require any student to become involved in any military program. Non-military personnel from the ASVAB Career Exploration Program will meet with students when results are available to help interpret scores. For general information about this exam, please go to www.asvabprogram.com.   Click on the following link for access to practice tests before the exam date: www.asvabpracticetests.com.

AP Testing Registration Fee – DUE TODAY
If you have a student who is currently enrolled in an AP class, the time is here to make a final decision about whether they will be taking an Advanced Placement (AP) exam in May. Mrs. Kirchmann has already visited every AP class and has given your student information about registering for AP exams.

Payment for AP tests must be made online for registration to be complete. Tuesday, October 1st  the window opens and the 21st at midnight is the last opportunity to pay for an exam as we will be placing the AP orders the next day.  Students have also been given a registration form that must also be completed and turned in to Mrs. Kirchmann in order to finalize registration for AP testing. This form is also available on the webstore when you pay.

AP Testing Payment can be made at the Sycamore School District Webstore under “High School” and “AP Testing”.  The cost of AP testing is $94.00 per exam (or $53.00 per exam if you are on free or reduced lunch).

Sophomores to KEC/Kish College
Our school goal is that 100% of our students, by the time they graduate , are college and/or career ready.  Part of that goal is met by introducing our 10th graders to the courses that KEC offers, most are dual credit, and let them see the campus of a community college.  We will be gathering in the auditorium after 2nd hour on Thursday, November 7 and returning so students can go to their 10th hour class.  Lunch will be provided.
