At least every other year, districts throughout Illinois are asked to participate in the 5Essential survey to gather information from our faculty, students and parents to gain insight in the key components of all successful schools.  These areas include effective leaders, collaborative teachers, involved families, supportive environments, and ambitious instruction.

The results of the survey responses are reported back to the schools for their review and planning for future school improvement focus items within the five areas.

We need your assistance and your feedback.  As a district, we have chosen to provide the opportunity for you, the parents/guardians of our students, to offer us feedback via the 5Essentials parent survey.  The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and can be completed on your smart device.

Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand the conditions here at the school and guide improvement. Your identity and individual survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

To take the survey, click here.

For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, please visit https://illinois.5-essentials.org.

Thank you, in advance, for your time and participation.

Dual Credit Information Night – January 16

Current juniors who receive a recommendation to take a Dual Credit Kish-On-Campus class at Sycamore High School next year should attend an informational meeting with their parents on Wednesday, January 16th at 6:00 PM in the SHS cafeteria. During this meeting, we will have Kishwaukee College representatives and SHS staff presenting information about: how to qualify for dual credit classes, tuition costs, scheduling, potential pitfalls, and developing your college transcript. Most of the dual credit courses are only available to upcoming seniors (with the exception of DC Biology which can be taken as a junior with a teacher recommendation).  Teachers will give recommendations for these courses based on a student’s performance in their current class – students should be speaking with their teacher if they are interested in these courses. It is important to follow teacher recommendations so that students are properly placed in these college level classes. This can be a great opportunity for students to gain college credit while attending high school. There are many steps to signing up for a Dual Credit class – please refer to the Dual Credit sheet handed out to interested students in the registration session.
