Spartans Read Forever

“Caught Reading”

Throughout the program, students will be randomly selected to receive gift-card prizes for checking out books, for being caught actively reading, for submitting pictures of themselves reading, and for completing book reviews.

Requirement: Students do not need to do anything to earn these prizes other than to be “caught reading” by a teacher or administrator and generally participating in the program.

Classroom

At the end of the program, the English sections from each grade level with the highest number of books read will be selected for a donut,  ice cream, or pizza celebration, depending on the time of class.  

Requirement: After finishing a book, the student should fill out a #spartansreadforever card to be displayed on the classroom wall.  The teachers will then enter total numbers of books within the Teacher Tracker. 

Individual

At the end of the program, the top students from each grade level, with the highest number of books read, will receive their choice of gift cards or prizes.  

Requirement: After finishing a book, the student should complete a book review using this Google Form. Mr. Anderson will then track winners. 

For classroom prizes, tell your English teacher, and fill out a #SpartansReadForever card for your classroom walls.  For individual prizes, submit a book review to this Google Form, where Mr. Anderson will track books read in the library and post your review.

When fourteen-year-old Stevie is fired as the co-host for USTV's Kid-Sports program, it looks like he is going to miss both the Super Bowl and his opportunity to work with Susan Carol again. He is devastated until he calls his mentor, who arranges to have him attend the Super Bowl as a journalist for the Washington Herald. Stevie's week in Indianapolis is fantastic (literally). He not only writes his daily column for the Herald, he is asked to be part of the "talent" for CBS. This credential gets him into everything. He, of course, connects with Susan Carol and they discover the shocking news that the defensive line of one of the teams has actually flunked the drug test and the results are being concealed. Stevie and Susan Carol become embroiled in first proving that this is so and then revealing the truth to the world. Sports fans will enjoy this third book about these likable teenage journalists.
