President and CEO Driv-Lok, Inc.
Class of 1968
Gary is a man that has had great accomplishments since his graduation from Sycamore High School in 1968. He went on to graduate from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s in Education degree in Business and Mathematics and then served six years in the U.S. Naval Air Reserve before receiving an honorable discharge.
Gary began his business career in accounting at Rockford Products Corporation and then went on to attain the position of Corporate Controller. While working at Rockford Products he graduated from Rockford University (Rockford College) with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration!
You can’t keep a good man down though because in 1992 Gary came back to Sycamore as the Director of Finance at Driv-Lok, Inc. He subsequently held the positions of Director of Operations, Executive Vice President and then President. Gary became the CEO and Majority Stockholder of Driv-Lok, Inc. in January of 2006. Gary is such a hard worker and as you can see he’s worked his way up the corporate ladder!
Gary also knows the importance of community involvement. While attending Illinois State University he was involved with the Big Brother/Big Sisters Association. He’s been the Council President at the First Lutheran Church of Kirkland and President of the Sycamore Chamber of Commerce. Gary has served on numerous boards (i.e., Driv-Lok, Inc.,
Sycamore Chamber of Commerce, DeKalb County Economic Development Corporation, NIU Executive Advisors to the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology, and the Rockford Civic League.)
During his days at good old Sycamore High School, Gary received the Chicago Tribune All Star Baseball Team Award, was a member of both the 1966 and 1967 Pete Johnson undefeated Hall of Fame football teams and won the John Phillip Sousa Most Valuable Band Member Award!
Gary was shocked and humbled when told about his induction into the Sycamore High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame. “Thank you for this wonderful recognition,” Gary said. “I am very proud to be a Sycamore High School Alum and I appreciate how well Sycamore Schools prepared me for any successes I have been blessed with from continuing my education to helping me be a positive influence in business and in our community.”
