The WYSE Academic Challenge is a competitive series of tests created and administered by Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering and offered to high school students in Illinois and Missouri.
Art Club is offered for anyone interested in art. The Club sponsors many activities, such as participating in homecoming, Halloween party and costume contest, and a holiday ornament making party.
Students get to compete in a tournament style competition where the largest bag limit wins. Competitions are held all over the state of Illinois, with the state finals being held around St. Louis.
An essential part of the Marching Band, the Color Guard performs at all home football games, parades, and competitions with the Marching Spartans. All members are encouraged to enroll in the Color Guard class, which meets at the same time in the school day as the Band.

The FFA membership consists of students enrolled in the Agricultural Education Program. The National FFA Organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agriculture Education.

The freshmen class is committed to promoting school spirit by participating in school activities that are “class” related. The freshmen class has four class officers; however, all freshmen are strongly encouraged and needed to participate in order to make the class activities successful.
The SHS GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) is a club with members who support students of all gender and sexual identities. It also seeks to educate students, staff, and the community at large about the topics of gender and sexuality and their impact on education.
The History Club aims at engaging students to learn about and preserve the history of our school and community while participating in civic activities.
This service-oriented club is a youth branch of Rotary International. The goals of the club are to perform services to the local community and raise money for local, national, and international causes.

The goal of Lil Sis Big Sis is to encourage, assist, and mentor incoming freshmen. Senior girls are paired with freshmen and together they participate in large group activities like the Back to School Breakfast, Homecoming, Think Pink Bake Sale, The Final Countdown (studying for exams), Chick Flick Night, and other events.
The Northern Illinois Big 12 Mathematics contest is held once each year for our Gifted Math students in December at North Central College. The contest is composed of individual written competitions as well as team competitions in both a large and small school division.
At the SHS Movie Club, we strive to admire all aspects of great films and endeavor to show students the very best of what American filmmaking has to offer. A huge part of American visual culture, movies have inspired generations of audiences through magical story-telling, great cinematography, cutting dialogue, and masterful use of technology.
Sycamore High School Performing Arts Department presents one musical a year during the fall season. Auditions occur within the first two weeks of school and are open to all students.
The Sycamore High School Band is comprised of several parts, each of which offers unique opportunities and experiences. All band members are required to enroll in one of three classes: Symphonic Band, Concert Band, or Percussion Methods.
The SHS Jazz Band is an extracurricular activity that rehearses one or two times a week in the evenings. Membership is open to all students in the music program. The jazz band performs at high school events, community events, and local and regional contests.
Concert Orchestra is open to all students regardless of experience. Chamber Orchestra members are selected by audition.
ALL Curricular Choirs are available to students in all grade levels. An audition may be required. Extra-Curricular Choirs are available to students currently enrolled in a curricular performance ensemble (choir, band, or orchestra). An audition is required.
National Honor Society is an organization for juniors and seniors in high school who have shown outstanding academic progress, good character, leadership and service to others. Juniors and seniors must have a 3.5 grade average to be nominated.
Newspaper/Journalism club is for any and all students interested in writing and/or graphic design/art. There are no prerequisites or requirements. Members of this club are part of an enthusiastic staff of writers, webmasters, photographers, advertisers, and cartoonists!
Orchesis is a year round performance dance troupe dedicated to improving their dance technique and style, while still having lots of fun. The Orchesis Dance Troupe puts on an annual show demonstrating a variety of dance forms including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, modern, lyrical, tap, musical theatre, and contemporary.
Best Buddies is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Pep Club focuses on promoting school spirit by planning themes for the student section and pep assemblies all while promoting a friendly and fun-filled atmosphere at athletic competitions and extracurricular events.
The Sycamore High School Photo Club focuses on improving photographic techniques with lighting, posing, and Adobe Photoshop. There is room for all levels, from novice to advanced photographers.
The club currently fields more than 40 players from freshman to senior level. Matches are played usually on Wednesdays, beginning in early April and concluding with the annual Illinois Youth Rugby Association State Championships in Lamont on Memorial Day.
Scholastic Bowl is a team sport in which students compete by answering questions in the categories of math, science, literature, social studies, and current events. The season begins second quarter and ends in early March.
SpartMart is the school store located in the main entrance of the school, just outside of the auditorium. It is open daily before and after school and during student lunches.
Sci-Fi (Science-Fiction) is a great club where students can be themselves and be with friends as they enjoy watching science-fiction movies and playing games. The meetings are held on Friday evenings from 5:00-10:00 PM in the SHS Library.
Senior class officers are responsible for organizing committees comprised of members of the senior class. All seniors are encouraged to participate in at least one committee, and class officers serve on each committee.
The sophomore class starts each school year with plans for Homecoming. In order to have a successful year, all sophomores should be willing to actively support their class activities.

SpartanTV is a student led organization which teaches the basics of film and broadcast, while helping to develop students' camera work, as well as editing and communication skills. Students are responsible for producing over 100 broadcasts in an academic year, while using professional level equipment.
Students interested in public speaking, radio broadcasting, or acting out a scene with a friend should try out for the Speech Team (aka Forensics). There are 13 communication categories to choose from.
This advisory forum consists of representatives from various clubs and organizations at the high school. These students meet once each month (on Fridays) with representatives from the Administrative Team at the high school to discuss problems, policies, issues, and/or concerns within the school and how they can be addressed or solved.
The Student Council is an organization designed to offer both leadership experiences and involvement opportunities for members who design, plan, and organize many activities for the community and the SHS student body.
