Physical Education and Health
The Physical Education and Health Department at SHS helps students develop health-related fitness, competence in movement activities, cognitive understanding, and positive attitudes toward physical activity. These lifelong skills ensure that students have the background knowledge to lead healthy and physically-active lifestyles well-beyond their time in high school.
The Physical Education and Health Department is proud to offer a variety of courses to meet the interests of every student. In addition to traditional PE Class, Freshman and Sophomore students have the opportunity to enroll in Dance Classes (I or II) or Weight Training/Speed/Agility Class. Junior and Senior students have the additional opportunity to enroll in Mind Body Fitness or serve as a peer Leader in Instructional PE Class or in Freshman and Sophomore classes. Regardless of the course in which they enroll, students will be introduced to fitness concepts during regularly-occurring fitness days which promote an understanding of the role exercise plays as part of daily living.
