Thanksgiving Break

Students have Monday and Tuesday off school for Thanksgiving break - this is a great opportunity for them to catch up on any missing work that teachers may still accept for credit. Parents, be sure to check your students grades on the parent portal so that you are aware of any low grades.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Thank you to all of the parents who signed up for a conference with teachers.  Just a reminder that all Parent Teacher Conferences on Monday are in-person only while conferences on Tuesday are Zoom only. Teachers will not be available in-person on Tuesday. Please plan accordingly.

Transgender Awareness Week

The Sycamore High School GSA Club recognized Transgender Awareness Week with this video that was run during passing periods.

Tutoring

Free after school tutoring will be on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:45-3:45 PM as well as Sunday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM in the library. There will be no Sunday tutoring on November 21 or November 28.

ACT National Test Date

Sycamore High School is hosting an ACT National test date on Saturday, February 12, 2022. Students need to sign up and pay online at act.org.  There are limited spots available and this is open to students from any school — so we want to be sure that SHS students have this opportunity if they are interested.

Visiting Colleges and Universities

Here is a list of upcoming colleges who will be visiting Sycamore High School.  Any student interested in meeting with one of these schools should sign up through Naviance. See the counseling office with questions. Watch Naviance for updates as more colleges are added regularly.

Yearbook Pictures

On Tuesday, December 7, 2021, we will have a photographer here from 8 AM - 3 PM in the auditorium. In an effort to make sure all students are included in the yearbook, we have scheduled one last chance to have your photo taken to be included in the portrait section of the yearbook. No appointment is necessary — just stop by the auditorium on Tuesday December 7, 2021 and have your photo taken.

Any questions can be directed to Shannon Bierman at sbierman@syc427.org.

Student Chromebook Charging

We would like to remind all students that it is their responsibility to ensure that their Chromebook is fully charged before coming to school each day and to bring their chargers with them to school every day.  We are seeing an increasing number of students coming into the Technology Office on a daily basis looking for a spare Chromebook or charger to use because their Chromebook has not been charged at home.

While the Technology Office does not have extra chargers on hand to issue to check out to students, a spare charger has been placed in each classroom for student use while in that classroom.  Please make sure your student is charging their Chromebook at home on a regular basis to ensure they are able to use them for the entire school day.

Punctuality

We continue to have an issue with many students coming late to class, especially for 1st hour. 1st hour begins at 7:50 AM, on Thursdays 8:35 AM.  Please encourage your students to plan ahead and give enough time to get to school/class on time. We have communicated to them that as we prepare students for the working world, punctuality is one key to success.
