Parent-Teacher Conferences — IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, November 22 and Tuesday, November 23. Due to a scheduling issue with PTC Wizard, our parent-teacher scheduling software, we are unable to separate in-person conferences with virtual conferences.

Conferences will be held IN-PERSON on Monday, November 22 from 1-8 PM and via ZOOM Meetings on Tuesday, November 23 from 8 AM - 3 PM. This link is now live and closes on Friday, November 19 at 11:59 PM.

Please have your student(s) schedule so you know with which teachers you need to schedule conferences.

This video explains how to schedule conferences, but not how to enter multiple children into the account. Parents should add each student in middle school and high school before they start picking times. See the directions below.

Directions

  1. Visit the SHS PTC Wizard and Create Account (or log in if you used this website last year).
  2. Next Add A Child.
    • If you have more than one student in middle school and/or high school, add all of these students to your account before you start scheduling conferences. Go to Account Settings after you’ve entered the first child and then add more if needed. (Once you start the Add a Meeting process it will ask you to choose which child if you have multiple children at SMS/SHS.)
  3. Email Consent: click to consent to receive an email confirmation from PTC Wizard
  4. Add A Meeting
    • Step 1: Click on the drop down box for 2021 PT Conferences.
    • Step 2: You can click on multiple teachers (including English and PE). Don’t forget to choose the day! If you have more than one student at SHS, make sure to click on all of the teachers’ names. Click Continue.
    • Step 3: The teachers’ and teams’ schedules should appear. You can then pick what time you would like to meet with each teacher. If the square is filled in, the teacher is not available at that time. Click Continue.
  5. The message on the screen should read “Thanks for using PTC Wizard. Your schedule has been saved. You will receive an email within 15 minutes.” Close that message.
  6. Your schedule should appear with Child Name, Teacher Name, Date, Time, and Room.
  7. Please note all conferences scheduled on Monday, November 22 will be in-person regardless of what your confirmation says and conferences scheduled for Tuesday, November 23 will be virtual regardless of what your confirmation says.
  8. Enable Zoom (and CONFIRM) meetings for virtual days ONLY. Click here for video instructions

Thanksgiving Break

Students have Monday and Tuesday off school for Thanksgiving break - this is a great opportunity for them to catch up on any missing work that teachers may still accept for credit. Students should check in with their teachers before break to find out what can still be completed during their week off in order to improve their grade.  Parents, be sure to check your students grades on the parent portal so that you are aware of any low grades.

Food Drive

Student Council will be having a food drive this week, November 15 through 18. Each class (Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen) will have a labeled box in front of the main office in which they can place their donations. The class with the most food items will be able to pie their teachers in the face at the pep assembly Friday! The winners of the food drive will be announced on Friday, November 19 during the pep assembly. Please bring in all non-perishable food items and drop them in your class's donation box in the main office.

Visiting Colleges and Universities

Here is a list of upcoming colleges who will be visiting Sycamore High School.  Any student interested in meeting with one of these schools should sign up through Naviance. See the counseling office with questions. Watch Naviance for updates as more colleges are added regularly.

Tutoring

Free after school tutoring will be on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:45-3:45 PM as well as Sunday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM in the library.

Yearbook Pictures

On Tuesday, December 7, 2021, we will have a photographer here from 8 AM - 3 PM in the auditorium. In an effort to make sure all students are included in the yearbook, we have scheduled one last chance to have your photo taken to be included in the portrait section of the yearbook. No appointment is necessary — just stop by the auditorium on Tuesday December 7, 2021 and have your photo taken.

Student Chromebook Charging

We would like to remind all students that it is their responsibility to ensure that their Chromebook is fully charged before coming to school each day and to bring their chargers with them to school every day.  We are seeing an increasing number of students coming into the Technology Office on a daily basis looking for a spare Chromebook or charger to use because their Chromebook has not been charged at home.

While the Technology Office does not have extra chargers on hand to issue to check out to students, a spare charger has been placed in each classroom for student use while in that classroom.  Please make sure your student is charging their Chromebook at home on a regular basis to ensure they are able to use them for the entire school day.

Punctuality

We continue to have an issue with many students coming late to class, especially for 1st hour. 1st hour begins at 7:50 AM, on Thursdays 8:35 AM.  Please encourage your students to plan ahead and give enough time to get to school/class on time. We have communicated to them that as  we prepare students for the working world, punctuality is one key to success.
