School portraits will be taken during PE classes on Wednesday, March 3, and Thursday, March 4 from 7:45 am-12:58 pm for Hybrid A and B students, then from 1-3 pm for all remote students. Remote students will need to schedule their photo time in the button below:
The safety precautions LifeTouch is putting into place are covered in the video linked below.
- Masks must be worn at all times when a photo is not being taken.
- Masks can be removed while the photo is taken, but this is not required.
LifeTouch has introduced new pricing for this school year. They are offering a low entry package price of $14.99, which includes 1-8X10, 2-5X7's, and downloadable images for $14.99. There are 4 packages to select from or you can build your own package with addons. Purchase is not necessary, but students do need to have their pictures taken as these photos are used for Infinite Campus, school ID's and the yearbook. Photos submitted through eShare earlier in the year can be used as well.

Dual Credit (and some KEC Classes) For Next Year - Applying to be a Kishwaukee College Student
If you signed up for any Dual Credit class for NEXT YEAR, the first step of being able to take this class is to apply as a Kish student. This must also be done if you are taking a CNA, EMT, Sports Med or Medical Terminology class at KEC, as these require testing to qualify (other KEC classes DO NOT require testing). Applications must be completed at least 7-10 days before you are able to move to the next step of completing any required placement test. See video below for instructions on how to apply as a high school enrollee. After you apply, watch your mail for a letter from Kish that includes your college ID - you will need this in order to complete placement tests. Watch for announcements about how to complete your testing (if needed) - this is being shifted to Sycamore High School. If you are already in a Dual Credit class this year, you do not need to reapply for Kish. How to Apply for Kish - Dual Credit
ZAPS SAT Test Prep
Sycamore High School encourages Juniors and Seniors who want to improve their SAT scores to take an SAT test prep course. We are working with Sycamore High School alumni at Doorway to College, to provide our students with the opportunity to participate in high-quality test-preparation classes for the SAT. Doorway to College will be offering a virtual SAT Prep Seminar for $85. Please click on the button below to learn more about this opportunity.*
Due to current COVID-19 guidelines there is a space limitation of 35 participants. Please make sure to register early.
On April 13, 2021, all juniors will be taking the SAT with an essay at SHS. This is a state and graduation requirement.
Freshmen, Sophomores, and Seniors will be asynchronous on April 13.
Freshmen will be taking the PSAT9 and Sophomores will be taking the PSAT10, also in April. The date of those assessments will be communicated in the near future.
Seniors - be sure to be logging into your Naviance account to look for scholarships that are available. Below is a link to a tutorial that was sent out earlier this year with instructions on how to use Naviance to find local and national scholarships. Many scholarships have recently been added and more will be coming - so seniors should check Naviance regularly.
Current Juniors interested in EMSA classes through Kishwaukee College next year
The Engineering, Math, and Science Academy (EMSA) at Kishwaukee College is a program for motivated and academically inclined high school juniors. To enter the program their senior year, students must currently be a junior and enrolled in (or have completed) one year of pre-calculus and/or trigonometry and chemistry, which they must complete with a grade of “B” or better. Informational sessions were held in the fall but if you are still interested, there is time to apply. Please contact Jud Curry at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
Seniors - Have you done your FAFSA?
Reminder that all seniors must complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as a graduation requirement. The FAFSA application is open for students attending college in the fall of 2021. Students should talk to their counselor if they need help completing their FAFSA or about alternative ways to complete this requirement if there are any concerns. The FAFSA can be completed at FAFSA.gov. If you would like individual help, please reach out to our ISAC (IL Student Assistance Commision) representative, Jenna Roecker at email@example.com. She can do virtual help sessions to walk you through the entire process.
Offerings and brochures will be available soon. Our summer school dates are Tuesday, June 8-Thursday, June 24
Students due to the extreme cold temperatures, please make sure you are not leaving your Chromebook in your cars.
Students should still be checking their school email once a day.
Parents should be checking their students grades and attendance in Infinite Campus.
