Thursday, December 16, 2021 — Late Start (no lunches — breakfast items only)

  • 8:35-9:50 AM — 4/5, 5/6 period
  • 10:00-11:15 AM — 6/7, 7/8 period
  • 11:25 AM - 12:40 PM — 0 period

Friday, December 17, 2021 (no lunches — breakfast items only)

  • 7:50-9:05 AM — 9 period
  • 9:15-10:30 AM — 10 period

Students are to remain in the classroom for the entire time scheduled; no students will be allowed to leave the room during the exam time except for emergency situations.

PE and study halls WILL meet. If you don’t want your student to be in a study hall these days, please call attendance to excuse them.

Transportation Update for Finals

Buses will run the same in the morning on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Thursday will remain a late start.

However, the only transportation in the afternoon will leave the High School at 2:45 PM on Wednesday and Thursday and 12:45 PM on Friday.  The cafeteria will remain open if students have to wait for a ride.

Seniors — College Application Materials and Winter Break

Any senior who has a college application due date during winter break needs to be aware that the counseling office will be closed from noon on December 17 until January 3. Transcripts and other documents will not be sent during this time.

This means that if you need a transcript or letters of recommendation sent to a college during break, you need to add a request in Naviance early in the week of finals so that it can be sent out before we leave. (Letters of rec should have already been personally requested of teachers with plenty of notice). If you are applying with Common App, this process takes longer and you should check in with your counselor to be sure that everything can be submitted on time.  Please double check with Ms. Mathey before you leave for break to make sure that everything you need is taken care of for college application documents.

Junior Class Fundraiser

Sycamore High School family and friends — thank you so much for taking the time to view our fundraiser page! Your support will help us make our prom more extravagant...as well as more affordable. In the last two years, Sycamore was not able to host a traditional prom due to COVID 19, and we are aiming to ensure that the 2022 prom is an awesome night to remember! We appreciate any support whether via donation or simply sharing out to your networks...or both! Your donation is tax-deductible and you will be receiving a receipt for your gift. Our class has been working very hard to get some sense of normalcy back to the traditional SHS experience, and your donations bring us one step closer to achieving that goal. Tutoring

Free after school tutoring will be on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:45-3:45 PM as well as Sunday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM in the library.

Student Chromebook Charging

We would like to remind all students that it is their responsibility to ensure that their Chromebook is fully charged before coming to school each day and to bring their chargers with them to school every day.  We are seeing an increasing number of students coming into the Technology Office on a daily basis looking for a spare Chromebook or charger to use because their Chromebook has not been charged at home.  

While the Technology Office does not have extra chargers on hand to issue to check out to students, a spare charger has been placed in each classroom for student use while in that classroom.  Please make sure your student is charging their Chromebook at home on a regular basis to ensure they are able to use them for the entire school day.

If you have not ordered your Cap & Gown, you must order now! The deadline is December 15, 2021. Orders placed after this date will incur a late fee.

Punctuality

We continue to have an issue with many students coming late to class, especially for 1st hour. 1st hour begins at 7:50 AM, on Thursdays 8:35 AM.  Please encourage your students to plan ahead and give enough time to get to school/class on time. We have communicated to them that as we prepare students for the working world, punctuality is one key to success.
