Back to School Information

We are only two weeks away from the start of the 2018-19 school year.  This email includes information regarding important back to school information.

Material Pick-up Days
There will be two “Materials Pick-up” days for all incoming and returning Sycamore High School students. Students will be able to come in and get their student handbook and student ID.  Students who have pre-purchased a parking permit will receive their permits on these days as well. This will occur on Wednesday, August 8 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM and Thursday, August 9 from 8:00 AM – Noon. Please enter through door E3 (front doors closes to the cafeteria). Students only need to stop by one day to pick up their materials. Students who are unable to make these days can pick their materials up in the Main Office starting Monday, August 13 after 10:30 AM.

Schedules, Bus Information, and Locker Information
Student schedules will not be printed this year.  Students will be able to view their schedule, beginning Monday, August 6 after 1:00 PM, through Campus Portal online or through the app. Please note our schedule will have a new format starting this year.   Lunches will now appear as 4th hour, 6th hour or 8th hour, instead of A, B, and C lunches on schedules. Our new Class Schedule and Bell Schedule can viewed online now. Bus and Locker information will also be viewable through Campus Portal.

Health Information
Incoming Freshmen and new students to Sycamore High School are required to have a physical on file with the school nurse no later than 8:15 AM on Monday, October 1, 2018. If records have not been received by this date, students will not be allowed to remain in school until these records have been returned to the school nurse. For additional information, please visit our Health Requirements, Physical Exams, and Immunizations webpage.

Parking Permits
Parking permits will not be available to purchase on “Materials Pick-up” days.  They will be available for purchase beginning Friday, August 10 through the first day of school.  All students must have a valid student parking permit visible in their car in order to avoid getting a ticket or having their parking privileges revoked. If your student still needs a Parking Permit, please complete the Parking Permit Information form on our website, and make payments through the WebStore.

Athletics
Fall Sports will be starting next week! Football and Golf will start on Monday, August 6 and Cheerleading, Boys Cross Country, Girls Cross Country, Dance, Boys Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball, and Girls Swimming (Co-Op with DeKalb HS) begin on Wednesday, August 8. For additional details on times and locations for first practice, can be found on our 8to18 webpage. All Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who are planning to participate in a sport must have a current sports physical on file prior to tryouts. Any freshmen planning to participate in a sport, must have a freshmen physical on file with the nurses office prior to participating in sports. All parents, must register their students online through 8to18. We have announced a partnership with two local providers to provide a special rate for sports physicals.
