TEC is a club of students at Sycamore High School with a passion for backstage production roles in the SHS Auditorium.

Throughout the school year, TEC members:

  • Construct, paint, and dress sets
  • Focus, program and run lighting systems
  • Create and maintain props for various productions
  • Edit, mix, and produce audio
  • Learn the processes of stage management

Students are given the opportunity to try out all different areas and positions of work in a backstage crew, while allowing them to further explore and excel in their favorite roles.

Production Assistants (Summer Opportunities)

While regular crew activities are under the TEC Club and will count towards volunteer hours, the SHS Auditorium does have a paid opportunity for certain students to work as Production Assistants on a production-by-production basis over the summer. Availability of these roles will depend on the graduating students who are already Production Assistants. Students who are interested in working as a Production Assistant must submit a resume along with their interest for the position in writing to Hannah Nelson by May of the current school year.

Club Fundraising

At each major show, TEC students run the Concessions Stand to sell refreshments for attendees. TEC is the only group allowed to sell concessions at shows in the SHS Auditorium unless given prior permission by the Technical Production Coordinator. If a student is not able to make it to most show rehearsals or TEC meetings, volunteering to help with the Concessions Stand is a great opportunity to be involved with TEC while raising money for the club. If students would like to do concessions in addition to another position, Ms. Nelson can provide more information on which roles are best to do both.
