Drama Club
Drama Club is a club of students at Sycamore High School with a passion for Theatre in the SHS Auditorium.
While many of our members do participate in the schools theatre productions this is not a requirement to be in the club. If you like theatre games or going to see shows please join us for our meetings. Throughout the school year, Drama members meet the first Friday of every month. The months we have shows that can be disrupted. All of our meeting dates are going to be updated in August of 2025.
Meet the Advisor: Karla Gulke, Teacher at North Elementary School
Mrs. Gulke joined the Sycamore School District in the fall of 2000. She is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from National Lewis University. She has been involved with community theatre for 9 years and has directed with Spartan Performing Arts Camp since 2018 and has directed at the high school level since 2022.

At the end of every school year we hold elections for next years officers. They work with Mrs.Gulke on fundraising, Homecoming and field trips. The Drama club instagram is also run by the social media chair.

Illinois High School Theatrefest
This last school year in 2025 we went to our first Illinois High School Theatrefest at the University of Illinois. This years seniors and advisors spent three days watching shows, attending workshops and meeting people from all over the state. We are excited to attend next year with our seniors. We will be having a meeting at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year to talk about the details.
Club Fundraising
During our intermissions for the musical and play we run a 50/50. You can buy tickets before the show and during intermission. At the end of the intermission Mrs.Gulke counts the money and announces the winner of half the pot. The proceeds go towards trips to see shows like The School of Rock in 2023, The Music Man in 2024, as well as Frozen and Cats in 2025.
Spartan Performing Arts Camp
During the summer in June we hold the Spartan Performing Arts Camp where kids k-8 spend two weeks working on a show with two performances at the end. Drama students can volunteer their time to be counselors to the kids.
Sycamore Ticket Office
The Sycamore Ticket Office manages ticketing for SHS Auditorium events.
