Why is Sycamore School District making this change?
This transition will help streamline education and facilitate communication between staff and students.

What is my student’s email address?
Student email addresses are their ID#@syc427.org. For example if their ID # is 1234, their email address would be “1234@syc427.org.”

How does my student access his or her account?
Prior to using their student account, all students must change their passwords. Directions on how to change there password can be found here: How to change Google password

After his or her password has been changed, students can access Gmail and Google for Education apps at http://www.gmail.com.

Who can my student email?
Students will only be able to email Sycamore Community School District #427 staff and students.

Will anyone know my student’s password?
No.

What if my student already has a Gmail/Google/Google Apps Account?
While this system is hosted by Google and includes Gmail and Google Apps, it is completely separate and independent from other Google accounts you may have. You can have both a regular Gmail account and a Sycamore School District email account using Google Apps. You can even be logged into both simultaneously.

What are Google Apps and how do I use them?
Google Apps is a collection of communication and collaboration tools that are available to all students and employees in the Sycamore Community Schools. Currently, Google Apps includes the following:

  • Gmail
  • Google
  • Google Calendar
  • Google Docs
  • Google Sheets
  • Google Slides
  • Google Hangouts
  • Google Classroom
