Summer School

Sycamore High School offers a variety of courses for students to take over the summer. All students have the opportunity to get ahead on courses or get caught up classes. Sycamore High School will offer the following courses during the 2018 Summer School.

Driver’s Education

Summer Driver’s Education classes will begin on Wednesday, May 23, and run through Wednesday, June 13. The class will meet May 23, 24, and 25 from 3:30-5:30 PM; May 29, 30, 31, and June 1 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM; and June 4-8, 11-13 from 1:30 – 3:30 PM. Please be aware that state law mandates that a student may only miss two days of a summer school class. If a student will miss more than two days, he or she will not be eligible to take Driver’s Education over the summer, and will not be eligible to receive credit for the course. In addition to the classroom portion of the course, students are required to complete six hours of behind the wheel time with the instructor.

The Driver’s Education application, along with payment for each course, is due by Monday, May 7.

Regular Summer School

Regular Summer School will run from Monday, June 4 through Thursday, June 21, and will meet Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM. The cost for summer school is $200 per class. Space for a specific class may be limited, and sometimes classes fill quickly. Application for registration is not a guarantee of entry in a given class. Students will be admitted to each class on a first-come, first-served basis. If a course closes due to full enrollment, students may be placed on a waiting list. Classes must have a minimum of 15 student register in order for them to run as a school class.

  • Speech (Students entering 10th-12th Grade)
  • Health (Students entering 10th Grade)
  • Government (Students entering 11th or 12th Grade)
  • Consumer (Students entering 11th or 12th Grade)
  • Product/Process (Students entering 10th-12th Grade)
  • Dual Credit Speech (Students Entering 11th or 12 Grade)

The Summer School application, along with payment for each course, is due by Friday, June 1.

Online Learning & Credit Recovery

Online Learning and Credit Recovery will run from Monday, June 4 through Thursday, June 21,  and will meet Monday through Thursday. There will be two sessions offered to students: Session 1 will meet from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM, and Session 2 will meet from 1:00 – 5:00 PM. The cost for Online Learning and Credit Recovery is $200 per half of a credit. Students work at their own pace in this environment.  Once students have completed the requirements for the specific class they do not to need to attend the remainder of the session. Online Learning and Credit Recovery is open to any students wishing to make up a failed class or to complete additional courses they are not able to work into their schedule during the regular school year.  

The Online Learning and Credit Recovery application, along with payment, is due Thursday, June 7.
