Nov. 21: We were able to flight test the UAV drone yesterday after school. We learned a great deal about how to fly it manually and how it operates when the ground computer is in control. We had the on-board camera running for all the flights, but the dusk flights when we attached the gimbal to stabilize the camera turned out beautifully.
Oct. 21: The SHS Engineering Club has been awarded a grant from the Sycamore Education Foundation (SEF). The grant is over $3,000 and will be used to purchase equipment to support our UAV drone program both for training and flight operations. The SEF has helped fund great educational opportunities in the Sycamore school district for 30 years and we thank them for getting our project off the ground.
Oct. 2: The 3M corporation has awarded the SHS Engineering club a grant for the purchase of a UAV drone. We would like to thank them for their kindness and the opportunity for students to gain experience with engineering. We anticipate the drone kit will arrive some time around Thanksgiving.
Engineering club is one of the newest clubs at SHS. This is the first year we are offering this club to all students. We are building/researching a drone to fly over school events, to take overhead footage for Spartan TV. We will have weekly work meetings every Thursday after school from 3:15-5:00, in room B218. Hope to see you all there!
Make sure you have signed up on the 8to18 website.
Also sign up for the “Remind” text message service. We will use this to coordinate meeting and to gain access to the Engineering Club shared documents. Instructions are provided below:
